Wow, didn't realize it has been over 3 months since I posted pics. Here's what we've been up to!
Martin Luther King wknd - Annual basketball tournament in Los Angeles. Both boys competed, don't know why I don't ave a pic of Stephen's team. Top pic is Chris with most of his team, bottom pic is the boys at Huntington Beach which is near where the tournament was held
Both boys competed in Odyssey of the Mind for the first time this year. I was their coach. They had to build a structure out of balsa wood that met many requirements (at least 8 inches tall, no more than 15 grams, use pieces of specific lengths etc). It was quite an engineering challenge. We competed with a structure that Chris built (see pic below). The competition was to create and perform an eight minute skit that incorporated testing how much weight the structure could hold without crushing. The structure held 135lbs, but we ran out of time before it crushed, so we don't really know how much it would have held!
Boys did a skit about pirates
testing the structure in our garage
Chris' flag football team won the 6th grade championship!
Steve's sister Kate and family came to visit during their Spring break. Had a great time with them and got to do some local activities I haven't done in a while!! Here they are at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park.
Don't let him fool you, Steve loves the cats! Here he is with Boots!
Our Spring break is this week- the 1st week of April. We spent a long weekend at Yosemite. First time Steve and the boys have been. It was incredible. We've gotten so much rain, the waterfalls were just amazing. Even found some snow.
These pictures are from the Hetch Hetchy reservoir and O'Shaughnessy Dam. This is the tunnel leading to the trail to the Wapama Falls. I look so small compared to Stephen in this picture!
Reservoir
If you zoom in on this pic, you can see 2 waterfalls... one to the left of stephen and one to the right of chris
Rainbow!
Found some snow at Crane Flat
The rest of the pics below were taken in Yosemite Valley. Main road into the valley from our hotel was closed, so we had to take a 2.5 hour detour to get here. It was worth it! For me anyway, poor Steve had to do the driving and some of it was pretty scary... High up and steep cliffs!
Might get the next two framed and hung!
I don't know what this waterfall is called... it's right past the Arch Rock Entrance before you get to Bridalveil falls
Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls
Didn't get a good pic of Bridalveil falls, but this is us a little wet after standing under it!
ahhh... not sure what this one is
